Unhalfbricking was my first Fairport Convention album, too. And I agree that it's about half-great. "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" and "Autopsy" and "A Sailor's Life" in particular are my favorites, but also the cover of "Percy's Song". The rest of it is a little too heavy on Dylan covers and filler. With the far superior (though it took me a while to acknowledge) Liege & Lief they escape the American influence and create, I think, their own style of music, an English folk rock.
