Every year I wage an unsuccessful war on "Auld Lang Syne" as I appeal to my friends and family to adopt the Zombies' "This Will Be Our Year" as the annual first song of the new year. I love the optimism, paired with the references to hard times behind us. It feels especially apropos this year, I think. Happy New Year.
