Aside from that Wavves record and Air France's No Way Down sneaking in there, most of this week has been a kind of "comfort food" week for music. Mostly stuff I know pretty well, and no one record monopolizing my time. Toward the end of the week I noticed my eMusic allowance kicked in, so I picked up a couple more krautrockers I'd been meaning to get around to (ADII and Neu!).
You might notice the little parenthetical numbers here and there. Those are a result of my discontent over the fact that my listening stats post did not feel accurate enough to me. So I'm keeping track of any albums I listen to multiple times in a week. Yes, I can get more anal. It's part of why you love me.
Anyway, this week I've been thrilled by Del Shannon, whose greatest hits my brilliant wife bought a month or two back but which I didn't get around to really listening to until now. The whole thing is genius. For instance, at least nine awesome things happen in succession in this song:
- Del Shannon: The Swiss Maid
Gah! Thank you for posting that Del Shannon song. I probably haven't heard that for well over 15 years. My family went through a phase when we'd buy all kinds of crazy doo-wop and early rock 'n' roll collections on cassette (usually heavy on the novelty songs) and listen to them in the car. "The Swiss Maid" was always one of our faves.

Del Shannon is great. Another fun one is "Hats Off To Larry."
