There they are: every album I purchased or acquired this year, in order of when they entered my collection. It's been a pretty good year for music for me! Much better than last year, especially in terms of albums actually released this year. A bit later today, my top albums of the year. The rest of the week I'll talk about my favorite blind spots and may have a few additional things to say as well.
But first, a quick overview: wow, I picked up fifty-seven albums this year! (In fact, I picked up more than that; I think another five or ten albums made their way into my house and I haven't even gotten around to listening to them yet.) Of these, nineteen were released in 2007, ten were released within the last five years, and the remaining twenty-eight were musical blind spots. Most important, I truly enjoyed most of these albums. Of course, some were downright classics while others were merely good, but nonetheless I enjoyed most. I'd say that maybe five of these albums were total, utter, complete trash. That's a pretty good ratio and overall a great listening year. Come back in a few and I'll start getting specific.
