Gotta love Largehearted Boy's tireless efforts to catalogue every best-of blog post on the internet. It's the one time of year that I really cherish mp3 blogs (unlike the rest of the time). Aside from the fact that I've downloaded a shit-ton of excellent mp3s—and have finally, finally been convinced to plunk down some cash for an Animal Collective album—I've also just discovered a blog called The Rising Storm, which may well be my new favorite blog. Check out their favorite rediscovered gems for a sampling of their content. Other recent posts include tackling the Gene Clark albums I should've started with, plus many other garage and country/folk-rock of the 60s. I'll be checking it daily.
Hahh! If we can keep up with it daily.
I wasn't gonna make a list but when it pays off like this it's all worth it. You know, I don't get into half of the music I buy at first. I remember feeling embarrassed playing 5D for my friends in the car after leaving the music shop. And No Other took a long time as well, as does all the Clark stuff. It's old news in a way, and has to be digested. But when the records finally hit you it's soo worth the effort. Glad to find you.

We'll see if that Clark album ever grows on me. I can tell pretty immediately, based on the songs you posted, that his earlier stuff will be more up my alley.

Small world. I just left a comment on the most recent post. I found your blog searching for other blogs that posted on Big Star. Then I see that you are a fan of The Rising Storm. It's my favorite blog on the net. I'm going to check out your blog when I get a chance. Need to go to sleep now!
