should I be devoting time to all this animal collective/panda bear crap? you've apparently become pretty interested recently and it seems like it's keeping your interest. my first listens of both have left me underwhelmed, not that excited to spend much time. but if there's more to it, I'm open to trying.
personally, I think you could pass on Panda Bear, despite what all the best-of lists say. I like it, but I'm not blown away by it. Each time I listen to it I wonder what the overall album is accomplishing that isn't done in toto in "Bros." - I think you could download that song (the long version) and be done with them.
Strawberry Jam has three songs that, to me, are outstanding - "Peacebone," "Fireworks," and especially "For Reverend Green." The rest of the album (six more songs) is also good but not to the level of those three songs. But when I get one of those bits stuck in my head, I'm pulled to the record like a magnet.
I have a post simmering in my brain about "For Reverend Green" - hopefully I'll find time to write it soon.
