There's a newish blog out there called Star Maker Machine (formerly known as Six Songs), and it's basically an ongoing meme—a theme is chosen and then you submit the mp3. It's only just gotten off the ground but I like the idea: it manages to take the traditional mp3 blog style and (ideally) gets people chatting, making their own associations, hopefully sharing their own favorites. Sort of takes me back to my college days when my roommates and I would sit around pulling song after song out of our record collections to share with each other, well into the small hours.
Anyway, long story longer, I'm gonna start contributing and so should you. You can contribute just once or you can get invited to help author the blog; all the instructions for how to do so are at the blog so take a look. Or don't contribute, and just enjoy the songs, wherever they go. Thus far Paul from Setting the Woods on Fire and Matt from Perceptions, Delusions have both made contributions.
And now, so have I! The inaugural theme is "days of the week"; hence my first contribution. I think I just might contribute frequently, particularly since it's more or less a completely different format than what I try to do here. So, if you like my taste in music but hate my longwinded posts, you may want to bookmark SMM. Or, like I said, offer up your own mp3s. It'll only be as good as people make it.
