I had jury duty this week, which meant a lot more time for listening. The hour-long bus commute downtown, the sitting in hallways waiting to be asked into the courtroom, the long lunch breaks. So I decided to get in-depth with a few bands—MMJ because they were on my mind; Guero in addition to Modern Guilt since I mentioned on Monday that I've never really given the album a chance; the Shins because... I'm not sure why, but it occurred to me that I haven't listened to the Shins in a long time and that I actually like them quite a lot.
