Lord give me the strength to show some restraint, but I signed up for eMusic a week or two back. I burned through my fifty free songs in about ten days and now I have to wait around for next month's fix to kick in. It doesn't have all the new releases I'd like—no Sigur Ros, no Pas/Cal. But in a way that might be a good thing. That means I still have to make my pilgrimages to Amoeba—an experience that can't nor shouldn't be replaced. So with eMusic I've been filling in bits and pieces of my collection—those albums I always want, but are never at the top of the priority list when I'm actually in the record store. So I finally picked up Margot & the Nuclear So & So's debut from a couple years back (I've never worn out my mp3 of "Skeleton Key" in all this time); filled in the six or so tracks (plus the appendix) from Black Sheep Boy that I never happened across on mp3 blogs; and I picked up the Sharon Jones album in anticipation of seeing her open for Feist tomorrow night at the Hollywood Bowl. My brilliant wife has picked up her share as well—the new Air France EP and an older Fiery Furnaces album, neither of which I've had a chance to take in yet.
