Air France, On Trade Winds
The Flatlanders, More a Legend Than a Band
Fleet Foxes, s/t
Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, 100 Days, 100 Nights
Margot & the Nuclear So & So's, The Dust of Retreat
All of these are albums purchased within the last five weeks or so. My album consumption rate seems to be increasing more and more, so my quarterly My Listening Hours posts are going monthly, starting Monday. So come back on Monday for samples from all these albums and a few others.
Most of the last half of this week was spent listening to playlists and shuffles, not so much full albums. Long ago I somehow whittled my library into the perfect "happy" mix—all five-star songs that were perfect for making you smile and/or get excited. Later attempts at updating this playlist have failed at capturing the same mood as the original, but once again I've been trying. I started with all the five-star songs in my library, which was something like 1300 tracks. Pruning out the slow and the dour and the otherwise not-right-for-this-playlist, I'm down so far to about 750 tracks. Lots of pruning to go still. But in the meantime, what a fun way to make a mix—even the songs tht don't make the cut are excellent songs, so it's been quite a pleasurable process. Here's one that's definitely going to make the final cut:
- Harry Nilsson, Gotta Get Up
thanks for the song link - perfect for this morning, which is ideal summer weather.
