Animal Collective, Merriweather Post Pavilion (4), Feels, and Strawberry Jam
Andrew Bird, Noble Beast (8)
The Ruby Suns, Sea Lion
Wavves, Wavvves
La Düsseldorf, s/t
Jorge Ben, África Brasil
It's pretty much been all Bird all week—at least once a day, sometimes twice, since Monday. It's grown on me, as I expected it would. It's also kind of pushing the Animal Collective off to one side. Meanwhile, a couple new acquisitions—La Düsseldorf and Jorge Ben—have me pleased. Both are albums I've been meaning to get for a long time. The Düsseldorf record pretty much picks up where Neu! left off, which is fine by me. (I'm still waiting to find the one record from either Klaus Dinger or Michael Rother that is flawless from beginning to end.) The Jorge Ben album is a little funkier than I was expecting, but still good (not counting the one song whose melody is almost identical to "Do You Think I'm Sexy"). What I really want is something of his from the sixties, though. Something a little more acoustic. At any rate, based on all of one listen, I like it.
- Jorge Ben: O Filósofo
You know that Jorge Ben sued Rod Stewart for biting "Taj Mahal" and kicked his rooster-coiffed ass, don't you? Well it is true. Africa Brasil is great but all of Jorge Ben is great too.

No, I hadn't heard that story! Well, he clearly deserved to win that lawsuit.
