I started to listen to The King of Limbs for the first time this morning but ran into some technical difficulties with the opening track, so I abandoned it and put on Tago Mago instead. I wasn't really paying attention, and then for a second during the opening track, "Papermoon," I thought "wow, this new Radiohead album is amazing!" Only for a second, but still: get to the two-minute mark of "Papermoon" and listen to those shuffling drums! Genius, and not unlike beats I've heard Phil Selway knock out. Plus, that guitar tone—it's actually not too far off from something Johnny Greenwood would use! And then the whispery vocals come in—wouldn't be the first time Thom Yorke obscured himself. Beyond that, okay, I admit: only a total idiot could mistake one for the other. But for just one second...
- Can: Paperhouse
I always thought Thom Yorke must have really dug "Sing Swan Song" off of Ege Bamyasi (and probably been a fan of Damo in general).
